Realume is a lighting product that brings the beauty of hyper-realism—cultivated through Japanese food replica craftsmanship—into interior space.
Born in a time of rapid change, when materials and environments were constantly evolving, this craft has remained committed to a singular pursuit: hyper-realism. While its methods have continuously adapted to these changes, its underlying attitude has remained unchanged. This fusion between an unchanging pursuit and ever-evolving methods defines what we see as a form of modern craftsmanship.
Realume translates this sensibility into light—allowing a quiet sense of “realness” to gently diffuse into space.
Realumeは、日本の食品サンプル技術によって培われてきた「超リアル模倣技術：ハイパーリアリズム」を、空間に取り込む照明プロダクトです。
約100年にわたり、食品サンプル技術は日本の外食産業における究極のリアルを追求し続けてきました。その一方で、外食産業そのものや、環境・素材は激しく変化してきました。そうした時代の中で、この技術はリアルを追い続ける姿勢の「不変性」と、製法をアップデートし続ける「柔軟性」を併せ持ちながら進化してきました。
この不変と柔軟の融合こそが、近代のクラフトマンシップとしての魅力であり、未来に向けた可能性だと考えています。Realumeはその魅力を照明プロダクトとして具現化し、空間にリアル美をにじませるプロダクトです。
ikebana series
The ikebana series incorporates ikebana as a motif within Realume.
It focuses on the quiet presence of a single flower—bringing subtle color to a tabletop and its surroundings, rather than bright illumination or decoration. The act of placing a flower into the vessel is integrated into the lighting interaction, turning the gesture itself into an experience.
By embracing flowers from different regions, the series aims to balance the universality of a single-flower ikebana aesthetic with a flexibility that accepts differences in local floral cultures. We use the lowercase ikebana to reflect this approach—one that also resonates with food replica craftsmanship.
Realumeのコンセプトに加えて、生け花の要素をモチーフとして取り入れたものを生け花シリーズとして位置づけています。
華やかに魅せるのではなく、１輪だけで卓上やその周辺の身近な空間に彩りを与えるミニマルな美的感覚。それに加えて、花を花瓶に投げ入れる生け花の行為が、照明の点灯動作となる体験性としても生け花のエッセンスを取り入れたプロダクトにしています。
また、花の種類は現状日本国内に限らず、各地で好まれるお花を選定することで、生け花の本質的な感性は大事にしつつ、各地域ごとの花文化の違いも受け入れていく柔軟さの両立を目指し、頭文字を小文字としたikebanaとしました。この不変と柔軟の両立性は食品サンプル技術の在り方とも合致しています。
Product Function
Like the nageire style of ikebana, the Realume ikebana series lights up simply by placing the flower unit into the vase. The vase unit is rechargeable and portable, with up to 10 hours of operation and dimming control. Although the LED is 6000K white, its light diffuses through the petals, carrying their natural color into the surrounding space.
Like ikebana practitioners shaping real flowers by hand, the stem can be bent and holds its form, while the petals and leaves can be gently reshaped by warming them, allowing for subtle adjustments.
生け花の「投げ入れ」方式のように、Realume ikebana seriesも花ユニットを花瓶に投げ入れるだけで点灯する仕組み。
充電式バッテリーでポータブル。最大光量で約10時間連続点灯可能で調光機能付き。花ユニット内部のLEDの光源は白色（6000K）ですが、花弁を通してそのリアルな色合いが空間に滲みます。
華道家が生花に対して手で形や全体のバランスを調整するように、Realume ikebana seriesの茎は力を加えて変形・形状記憶させることができ、花や葉はドライヤーなどで温めると同じく手で変形させることが可能な仕様です。
Sustainability
The realism of Realume speaks to a universal human sensibility—the desire to place fresh flowers in interior spaces and enrich them with the real beauty. Fresh flowers are widely used in commercial spaces, yet often discarded after only a short period of time.
Realume offers a sustainable alternative by preserving this lifelike beauty over time. Beyond simply replacing materials, Realume suggests another possibility for sustainability—one that begins with a connection to human sensibility.
インテリアに生花を飾り、その美しい彩りを空間に添えたくなる人間の普遍的な感性。Realumeのリアルさは、その人間の感性をくすぐります。商業空間でも多用される生花はその分多く廃棄されていますが、Realumeはその場に長くリアル美を持続させることができるサステナブルなプロダクト。素材だけでなく、人間の感性との繋がりがサステナビリティに寄与する可能性をRealumeは提示しています。
